Jennifer Bobb receives prestigious COPSS Emerging Leader Award

Jennifer Bobb, PhD has received the 2024 Emerging Leader Award given by the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS)

Jennifer Bobb, affiliate associate professor of biostatistics at University of Washington and associate biostatistics investigator at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute, has received the 2024 Emerging Leader Award awarded by the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS).

This prestigious award recognizes early career statistical scientists who show evidence of and potential for leadership and who will help shape and strengthen the field. 

Bobb was recognized for her significant methodological and applied contributions to the field of environmental biostatistics; for impactful research at the interface of cutting-edge statistical methods and real-world evidence to improve outcomes of people with substance use disorders; and for outstanding service to the profession.

The COPSS organization includes the American Statistical Association (ASA), the Eastern North American Region International Biometric Society (ENAR), the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC), and the Western North American Region of The International Biometic Society (WNAR).

The award was announced at the Joint Statistical Meeting (JSM) held in Portland, Oregon in August 2024.
